Text: Sir John de Vavasour, who was living 1279: he married Alice, daughter and heiress of Sir Robert de Cockfield, of Cockfield, in the county of Durham, by his wife Nicholaw, heiress of her brother de Sancto Marion. She confirmed a grant 1295. By this lady Sir John had two sons, William, and Mauger, who married 1276, Alice, or Agnes, daughter of William de Dunstan, from him descended the Vavasours of Weston, Acaster, and Copmanthorpe. |
