Note

Sir Peter Vavasour, Knt. eldest son of William, by Alice Mallory: he founded the chauntry, in the chapel of St. James, at Spaldington. He was sheriff of Yorkshire 1519, and was buried at Babwith 1557. He married Elizabeth, daughter of Lord Windsor, by whom he had seven sons, and three daughters: 1, John, his successor; 2, George, who married Anne, daughter and heiress of Robert Skipwith, of Willytoft, with whom he got that estate; 3, Andrew, married and settled in Shropshire: his family is extinct; 4, William, married Syth de Linton 1551, and had issue; 5, Thomas, doctor in physic, married Dulcia ? , by whom he had two sons, James and Peter, both living in 1573; 6, Anthony, married ? Kent, of Hemingford, in Huntingdonshire, by whom he had a son, Peter, who married ? , daughter of ? Lowndes, Esq.; also three daughters, Frances, wife of ? Hunt, Esq.; Dorothy, of Richard Lawson, Esq.; and Elizabeth, of John Barker, of Boroughbridge; 7, Henry, married Joan, eldest daughter and coheiress of Robert At Hall, of Belwood, in the isle of Axholme; he died before 1573: his grandson, Thomas Vavasour, Esq. was in possession of the estate of Belwood 1652.

Of the daughters, 1, Anne, was wife of Thomas Langdale, of Houghton, Esq.; 2, Mary, of ? Evers, of Bolton; 3, Elizabeth, died unmarried.
Sir Peter died 1557, and was succeeded by his eldest son, John.
