James lived at Moorehaugh near Pleasley, Mansfield. His father was Thomas Reynold, Gent.

In Thomas Reynolds's will of 21 Nov. 1724 & proved on 28 Jan 1724/5 James inherited a half part of all that house and tenement, stables, barnes outhouses belonging and several closes lands and premises appertaining situate in Newton and Blackwell Co. Derby in tenure of Stephen Kite.
To hold to son James his heirs and assigns to and for several uses and trusts hereinafter limited and declared, i.e. in trust for Margaret Reynolds, one of his sons daughters until she reasch 21 - if she
doesn't reach 21 then to James in trust for granddaughters Mary and Anne Reynolds and their heirs.
If Margaret marries without the consent of her father then the lands to Mary and Ann.
To servant Elizabeth Radford 40 sh. a year.
To Cousin Alice Smith 6p a week
To Granddaughter Mary Reynolds £100 at 21 years
To Granddaughter Ann Reynols £100 at 21 years.
If one of them dies then to remaining to be shared.
To James Reynolds son anything not yet bequeathed and he is made sole heir and Executor.
