Sir Thomas Percy, Knt., third son of Henry, second Earl of Northumberland, was created bu King Edward VI., in consideration of his good services, Baron Egremont, of Egremont castle, in Cumberland. His lordship fell at the battle of Northampton, in 1460, when the king was take prisoner. He died, according to Dugdale, "without issue", when the Barony of Egremont became extinct. Others authorities state, however, that he left a son, Sir John Percy, but who never assumed the title.
