Il était présent lors de la consécration de l'église de Briouze en 1093. Son père n'est pas connu et sa mère se prénommait Gunnor. Sa femme était probablement Eve de Boissey, et non Agnès de Sait Clare, erreur qui serait due à une confusion avec Bruce.
