Note

The Good. Only Welsh ruler to issue a coinage (système monétaire)
A grandson of Rhodi Mwar. (Mawr) He briefly united north & south Wales under
his governorship. By marriage to Elen, daughter of the king of Dyfed, he
secured that kingdom (c.904) and soon extended his realm into the area of
south Wales known as Deheubarth. He also absorbed Powys but had to
acknowledge Edward the Elder and later Ethelsatan as overlords in light of
threatened invasions by the Danes. The law code which he is credited with
initiating (the Laws of Hywel) still survives in a 13th century manuscript.
