William Dolman came to NSW possibly as Mr. Dolman per ship Louis and Miriam which arrived 18 Feb 1851.

On 27 Dec 1853 he was married to Caroline Gertrude Nagel at St. Mary's Cathedral by Father Therry. Witness were William Curtis and Mary McDonough.

They were living in Market Street. Caroline died 1871.
William Dolman married secondly Mary Aimee Donohoe in 1875.

He died 31 May 1902, aged 71, victim of a tramway accident. (for more : Article from the Sydney Mail, Sat June 7 1902 and from Freemans Journal ).

He was first appointed to a professorship in St Mary's Seminary, then in Lyndhurst college, and in the meantime, he had in the very early sixties started a Catholic book repository, and a little later joined the proprietary of the «Freemen's Journal», with which he was associated till 1869 as managing partner.

He was also mayor of Newton.
